This event also supports the preservation of a remarkable artifact: the leather flight jacket worn by George “Spanky” Roberts, the first graduate of Tuskegee University’s aviation program and the first commander of the 99th Fighter Squadron. Proceeds will help fund a museum-grade display case to protect this historic jacket, which bears one of only three known original 99th Squadron patch designs in existence.
